He is passionate about protecting green spaces and doing more to fight man-made climate change, which he sees as the biggest threat to humanity. His aim is to create a not-for-profit Carbon Farm near Milton Keynes to research and share knowledge of efficient ways to sequester carbon from the atmosphere. He experiments with hydroponics in his spare time and teaches his kids how to grow food at home.
Axel is a councillor for the Fenny Stratford ward on the Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council. He wants to hear from you and represent your concerns to the council. Please use the form at the end of this page or get in touch using the details on the contact page.
Axel Segebrecht is a dad of two who has made Bletchley his home for over 10 years. He works as a project manager at Office Depot’s Innovation Centre and is actively involved with start-ups and the technology community in and around Milton Keynes. He organises and runs MK Hackathon together with two friends to connect the technical with the non-technical communities in MK and bring value (e.g. Red Routes app). He is an active member of MK Geek Night and Made in MK communities, participating in talks and connecting people with shared interests.
Previously, he was a member of the Green Party in Germany, where he was actively involved and has been a member of the UK Green Party for a number of years. Wishing to apply his organisational and digital skills he has now been appointed to the event organiser role at the Milton Keynes Green Party. While we are restricted by current COVID19 conditions, he hopes to utilise his strong digital experience to activate our local membership base and garner new supporters to tackle local Green issues.
Axel is keen to get more people involved in taking effective action on issues concerning locals like himself and his family through his membership in the Green Party. Issues like combating pollution, calming traffic (especially around schools like on Water Eaton road) and protecting our green spaces from rampant development.
“Having two kids has shown me the importance of setting a positive example and taking meaningful action. Going litter picking and raising local issues such as parking or recycling with the council in Milton Keynes are regular activities for me and I would like to do more by representing people in the Bletchley West ward and putting our Green policies at the top of the council’s agenda.”
