I have always believed that we should never accept the world as it is and have chosen work and activities where positive changes can be accomplished.

There was a common theme in my employment history – this has been developing and managing income-generating social enterprises that benefit the disadvantaged. The first involved farmhouse cheese-making then came to a wholefood bakery co-operative, a craft workshop in Africa, a garden centre and finally I was involved in managing and developing charity shops and furniture stores for Age-UK MK

For over  30 years I have lived in Bletchley with my wife Susan, our children were educated here in local schools and now we are proud  grandparents

Following my retirement from full-time work in 2010, I have become very much involved with environmental education via an organisation called Chemistry at Work and via the Friends of the Earth Youth and Education Network. I give presentations and demonstrations on environmental science and climate change.

Also over the past 10 years, I have been part of a small group who have set up and developed Transition Town Milton Keynes and I am currently the chair of this.  It encourages people to become involved in practical environmental action.

I have always believed that it is important to balance the personal and the political and have been an active member of the Green Party since my retirement from full-time work. I have  assisted the Party in local campaigns as well as standing as the local and parliamentary candidate (for Buckingham in 2017)

I think there is now increasing awareness and concern about the serious environmental and climate challenges that we face. I am standing because I believe we need more Councillors who will work to translate that concern into practical action. My hope for this 2022 election is that voters will demonstrate their concern by voting Green.
