Joe French selected as Green Party candidate for Milton Keynes City Council Bletchley East ward By-election on 12 September 2024

Joe French has lived in Fenny Stratford in the Bletchley East Wardfor seven years. He is a self-employed project management professional, and has delivered training to national, and local Government, the NHS, the Private Sector, and numerous other organisations for 19 years.

Joe is the Clerk – a role akin to “chief administrator” – of Milton Keynes Quaker Meeting. He is also the Chair and bandleader of Young Miscellany – a children’s English Folk dancing group who have performed at festivals throughout the country and abroad.

Joe French said,

“I love Bletchley for its combination of historical character and multi-culturalism, with all the facilities of Milton Keynes on our doorstep. As well as paid work, I put a lot of time and effort into voluntary work. I am a semi-professional musician, playing various instruments, and member of the Musician’s Union. I have performed at the Stables several times, and am a regular attender of Bletchley Blues Club. I strongly upport keeping music live and think it is important for communities to protect their music venues. I love the fact that Marshall Amplifiers have their headquarters within a mile of where I live, and that they sponsor the MK Dons!

The Green Party strongly advocates for local businesses, and if elected as councillor I would do what I can to support the wide range of locally-owned businesses in Bletchley from car maintenance garages in Fenny Stratford to catering outlets on Queensway, whilst improving the urban environment for citizens of all ages.

I drive a car, but I am also a keen cyclist and would love it if the Redways of Milton Keynes could be improved for walkers, parents with buggies and cyclists, all of whose needs can be forgotten in the car-oriented city of Milton Keynes. I also believe our citizens should be much better served by public transport than they are at present.”

Vote Green on 12 September for a fresh and positive voice for Bletchley East on the Council.
