Response to MK Council’s consultation on Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)

May 3, 2022News

MK Green Party has responded to MK Council’s consultation on its Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) report. Alan Francis MKGP Policy Officer said, “ We very much welcome the proposals in LCWIP and appreciate that the long list captures most of the aspirations for new or upgraded routes for walking and cycling. However, we are concerned about the proposed timescales for implementation and that the majority of schemes are proposed for the medium or long term with only about a quarter of the schemes in the quick win or short term category. Some of the schemes proposed for medium or long term should be brought forward to short term.”

The Green Party has also made recommendations about safety on rural roads and side-turnings on grid roads and proposed improvements at specific locations in both the urban and rural parts of MK. See report for details.
