MK City Council has recently been allocated government funding for bus and active travel improvements, £650k for buses and £1.2m for cycling and walking.
At a recent council meeting the Green Party parliamentary candidate for MK North, Alan Francis, asked how this funding would be spent. He was told that the bus money will be considered by the BSIP Stakeholder group and the active travel money will be spent on a Redway between Newton Leys and Bletchley, which is good news. This is something MK Greens have been campaigning for for over a decade..
It is also important to note that significant improvements are required to our existing Redways network, which many MK residents use for cycling and walking. There are some shockingly bad patches of potholed surfaces, and the information/signage could be much better (it can be quite hard to navigate for people who are new to Milton Keynes).
MK Greens will follow the situation closely and push for the Council to focus on continuous extensions and improvements to our Redways.
