I have been studying environmental issues for the last six years as part of my degree. It has opened my eyes to the critical nature of environmental problems around the world and how they represent a fundamental threat to the existence of all living things. There is no doubt that human society is responsible for the degradation of ecosystems including the melting of ice caps, the plundering of rainforests and the pollution of the oceans. Unless we change our ways the future looks grim.

I have lost faith with the minimal priority given to these issues by other parties and the lack of action at all levels of government. Continued apathy will result in more extreme effects from global warming leading to more natural disasters and ultimately more avoidable deaths. I care about the injustice of climate change and I care about the next generation. They deserve a future of hope and possibility.

I know these issues need to be addressed at a global and governmental level but that shouldn’t stop us trying to find ways at a local level of improving how we implement policies that fix issues with a ‘Green’ focus. Whilst other parties play national politics at a local level its up to the Greens to fight for residents in a different way and I would like to represent Stony Stratford in this way.
